Our Favorite Essential Oils To Combat Dark Circles

2022-07-21

There are two types of dark circles, one is called cyan dark circles, which is caused by the congestion of the capillaries under the eyes. It is usually caused by lack of sleep or overuse of the eyes. It can be relieved by applying cold and hot compresses to the eyes. Fatigue massage to get rid of. The other is called dark circles under the eyes. Most of the reasons for dark circles are that the eye area is not thoroughly removed, or the skin around the eyes is too dry and causes repeated chronic inflammation. Despite our best efforts in preventing dark circles, they can still appear. Fortunately, there are essential oils and carrier oils that can help minimize the appearance of dark under eye circles by reducing hyperpigmentation, nourishing the area and helping to brighten skin.

For all of the following recipes, we suggest applying these oils before sunscreen in the morning and as the last step in your skincare routine at night. Be sure to avoid getting essential oil in your eyes.

AVOCADO

Richly nourishing and anti-inflammatory, Avocado oil is a great choice for brightening and toning under your eyes. This skin-loving carrier oil is also a prime pick for mature, damaged skin, as it’s abundant in oleic acid.

For naturally dry skin, combine 1 tsp of Avocado oil and 1 tsp of Argan oil.

EVENING PRIMROSE

If the dark circles under your eyes are caused by dermatitis or a similar skin condition, Evening Primrose is the way to go. High in linoleic acid, Evening Primrose’s skin-regenerative properties help to reduce the appearance of dark circles, fine lines, wrinkles and damaged skin.

Add 1 tsp of Evening Primrose and 1 tsp of Fractionated Coconut oil to a 10 ml roll-on.

GRAPESEED

Another oil that is high in linoleic acid and supportive to the skin is Grapeseed. Its anti-inflammatory properties and skin-softening ability assist in reducing under-eye puffiness while reducing dark circles.

Blend 1 oz of Grapeseed and 3 drops of Lavender essential oil

ROSEHIP

One oil that has continually proven its effectiveness in improving the appearance of skin, is Rosehip seed oil. Boost your skincare routine by swiping Rosehip oil to your eye skin — both morning and night — to prevent dark circles from cropping up.

To create a natural eye cream, melt 1 tbsp of Shea Butter in a double boiler. Add 1 tbsp of Rosehip. Once melted, remove from heat and transfer to a 1 oz jar.

COFFEE

We used to think we couldn’t love Coffee anymore than we already did — that is, until we realized it had the potential to reduce dark circles and refine skin. In fact, the same constituent which allows us to function in the morning is also an active ingredient in a growing number of cosmetics: caffeine!

Combine 3 drops of Coffee oil with 1 ounce of Sweet Almond oil.

FRANKINCENSE

Frankincense essential oil is known for its abundance of beneficial properties, but today we want to show some appreciation for its applications in skincare. From reducing puffiness to restoring skin to equilibrium, Frankincense oil is the catalyst you need to restore skin to a healthy, happy state.

Create a natural eye serum by mixing 3 drops of Frankincense essential oil with 1 ounce of Castor oil.
