The difference between single essential oil, essential oil blend and base oil

Skin care has always been an enduring topic among women, and among many skin care products, the role of essential oils is not only in skin care.

The uses of essential oils can be said to be really wide-ranging. Different essential oils have the functions of whitening, fading, and anti-aging. When used for massage, they can also relieve the tiredness and tension of the body after a busy day, such as lavender essential oil, and soothe the nerves to help sleep. effect.

Essential oils can be divided into three types: single essential oils, compound essential oils, and base oils. Different types of essential oils have different compositions and usage methods.

①Single essential oil

Single essential oil, also known as single oil, refers to a pure, unformulated, pure essential oil with high purity. Generally, it cannot be used directly on the skin. It can only be used after sufficient dilution, but there are a few exceptions for essential oils.

Essential oils are usually named after a plant or a part of a plant and have a strong botanical flavor. If essential oils are classified according to plants, they can be as follows:

Citrus: Bergamot, grapefruit, lemon, lime, orange, tangerine, etc.

Florals: Geranium, Roman chamomile, rose petals, lavender, ylang-ylang, orange blossom, etc.

Herbs: Roman chamomile, lavender, mint, rosemary, marjoram, clary sage, etc.

Camphor: Eucalyptus, Melaleuca, Rosemary, Peppermint, Tea Tree, etc.

Spices: coriander, black pepper, ginger, cardamom, etc.

Resins: frankincense, myrrh, elemi, white rosin, etc.

Wood types: cedar, sandalwood, pine, juniper, cypress, etc.

②Compound essential oils

The compound essential oil is different from the single essential oil. It is generally a maintenance oil made of two or more essential oils plus a base oil, diluted and reconciled. Can be used directly on the skin without dilution.

It should be noted that, try not to mix more than 4 kinds of essential oils.

③Base oil

Base oil refers to the pure plant medium oil used to blend one or several high-concentration single essential oils (not suitable for direct application on the skin). After being blended with the base oil, it can be used directly on the body by massage and other methods.

The more common base oils are:

Wheat germ oil, jojoba oil, olive oil, rosehip oil, evening primrose oil, etc.

How to store essential oils!

Because essential oils are completely extracted from plants without any addition or artificial synthesis, they are very susceptible to deterioration due to air, light, temperature, humidity, etc.

Therefore, essential oils must be stored in dark glass bottles with shading effect, which can reduce UV exposure by 90%.

Do not store essential oils in plastic bottles, as the chemical composition of plastic can damage the quality of essential oils.

Among them, lavender essential oil oxidizes very quickly and is volatile, and the bottle cap of the essential oil must be tightened.
