Thyme Essential Oil is a potent natural antiseptic.Thyme Oil exudes an intensely fresh, spicy, herbaceous scent that can be reminiscent of the fresh herb.Thyme Oil serves as an aromatic stimulant and tonic that cleanses the air, eases respiration, and strengthens the body and spirit. It is also popular in cosmetic, personal care, and some perfumery applications, and is used in the manufacturing of mouthwashes, soaps, skin care products, and disinfectants. Thyme Oil's potency also increases the likelihood of irritating the skin and mucous membranes; a safe and appropriate dilution is therefore strongly recommended prior to use.
Thyme Essential Oil is for external use only. Both Red Thyme and White Thyme Essential Oils contain a high amount of phenols which are known to irritate the skin and mucous membranes; it is therefore strongly recommended that they are diluted appropriately and a skin patch test is conducted before use. Varieties of Thyme Oil high in Thymol are not recommended for use in the bath as the oil can adhere to skin and cause sensitivities. Thyme Essential Oil should never be used around the eyes, inner nose, or any sensitive areas of skin.
